West Ham United announced on Friday that they have completed a deal to sign out-of-contract Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta on a two-year deal.

The right-back will move to the London Stadium on a free transfer following the expiry of his City contract at the end of June, and he will link up with his new club in July.

It ends a nine-year stint for the 32-year-old at City after he joined the club for £6.5m from Espanyol in 2008, but he has found first team football hard to come by under Pep Guardiola this season, making just 22 starts in all competitions.

West Ham supporters were quick to have their say on their first summer signing via social media, with many delighted that they finally looked to have sorted out their right-back issue with the likes of Alvaro Arbeloa and Sam Byram struggling to impress there this term.
