According to reports on ESPN FC, Southampton look set to win the race to sign Juventus midfielder Mario Lemina, who was also a target for West Ham United according to La Gazzetta dello Sport on Friday.
ESPN FC say that Saints are closing in on the 23-year-old and that he is due to have a medical with the south coast outfit on Sunday, ahead of a move that could cost £20m with add-ons, according to The Guardian.
The Irons have already signed the likes of Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic this summer but it doesn’t look as though they will be getting the former Marseille man.
West Ham supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour that Lemina is on his way to Southampton, and they were divided on the potential deal.
While some believe that it is another case of the board not going for a player that they need, others feel that the Gabon international isn’t good enough for their side anyway.
