According to reports in The Telegraph, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will sell defender Chris Smalling this summer and West Ham United are one of three Premier League clubs interested in signing the 27-year-old.

The England international is set to leave Old Trafford with Mourinho unsure whether he has the quality and mentality to play in a side challenging for the Premier League title, and he could cost around £15m.

Along with the Irons, Everton and West Bromwich Albion are also interested, and if Smalling did move to the London Stadium he would join a central defence that already contains the likes of Jose Fonte, Angelo Ogbonna and Winston Reid.

West Ham supporters were quick to have their say on the link via social media, with opinion largely divided.

While some said they didn’t really rate him or wondered if the team actually needs another centre-back, others believe a potential £15m deal for a Three Lions star could be too good to turn down.
