West Ham United announced on their official website on Thursday that they had agreed a deal to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez, subject to personal terms being finalised and the player undergoing a medical.

Irons manager Slaven Bilic has been keen to strengthen his attacking options all summer with continued fitness worries over Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho, and the Croatian looks to be close to sealing a £16m move to bring the former Manchester United man to the London Stadium.

The 29-year-old joined Leverkusen from the Red Devils in 2015, and he has scored 39 goals in 76 matches in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit.

West Ham supporters were quick to have their say on the arrival of the Mexico international via social media, with many shocked that the deal looks likely to go through while others praised the board for getting it over the line.
