On Tuesday evening, Michail Antonio was standing on stage thanking his teammates after being coveted with the "Hammer of the Year" award, recognising his fantastic development on the pitch this season.

Just a couple of hours later, West Ham chairman David Gold published a tweet which seemingly delighted fans of the club.

A new contract offer for Michail Antonio seemed inevitable after some fantastic displays during the season. The 27-year-old has been the standout player in a frankly underwhelming campaign for the Hammers.

The club have struggled to adjust to the move to the London Stadium and at one point looked like genuine relegation candidates. However, Slavan Bilic and his team have done just about enough to retain their status and now look set for a comfortable mid-table finish.

With such excellent displays, there has been rumours abound regarding the future of Antonio and whether any of the so-called "elite" clubs would come sniffing. However, Gold's tweet seems to indicate that the England international is set to stay in East London.

West Ham fans took to social media to express their delight at the news...
