West Ham United announced on their official website on Saturday that they had completed the club-record signing of Stoke City forward Marko Arnautovic on a five-year deal.

BBC Football say the initial fee is £20m but that could rise to £25 with add-ons, and the 28-year-old becomes the Irons’ third summer signing following the arrivals of Pablo Zabaleta and Joe Hart earlier this summer.

The Austria international spent four seasons with the Potters, scoring 26 goals and providing a further 32 assists in 146 appearances in all competitions, and he will add some much-needed quality and competition to the Hammers’ frontline.

West Ham supporters were quick to have their say on the deal via social media, and while many were delighted with the signing and believe it is a statement of intent, others are hoping he proves to be worth the fee the club have paid for him.
