According to reports in The Mirror, West Ham United are targeting a move for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud this summer with the Frenchman set to leave the club.
Irons manager Slaven Bilic will likely be keen to sign two new attackers before the new season with continued doubts over the fitness of Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho, and he could be ready to launch an offer for the £20m-rated France international.
With the Gunners targeting the likes of Alexandre Lacazette and Kylian Mbappe it seems likely that the France international will once again find regular playing time hard to come by next term and as a result could look to make his exit in the coming weeks.
West Ham supporters were quick to have their say on the rumour via social media, with some wanting it to be true as they rate the 30-year-old – who has scored 69 goals in 164 Premier League appearances for the club – but others believing they have no chance of signing him without European football on offer.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
get serious! He wants to play CL footy.

If we are going to go for Giroud then we need to offer decent money and decent wages; not faff around & talk it up like is normally the case

Absolutely no chance. Love to have him but he'll go to a CL TEAM

If we are to sign him we'd need to give him a role where he can move about freely unlike wenger who uses him as a target man
