According to reports in the Daily Star, Arsenal have told West Ham United that they will need to pay £20m if they want to sign midfielder Jack Wilshere this summer, with a buy-back clause also included in any deal.

The 25-year-old looks set to leave the Emirates this summer and the report adds that the Irons are interested in the player – who has just one year left on his Gunners contract – who impressed during a season-long loan spell with Bournemouth last season.

The England international made 27 Premier League appearances – providing two assists – but it doesn’t seem to have been enough to convince Arsene Wenger to hand him a new deal.

West Ham supporters were quick to have their say on the rumoured price tag via social media, and no-one agreed he was worth £20m considering the injury problems he has encountered in the past, with “£6-7m tops” a more reasonable fee.
