West Ham United will continue their preparations for the new campaign with a clash against Werder Bremen in the Betway Cup on Friday night.
The London club’s supporters were initially excited to see new signing Javier Hernandez feature for the first time, but the Mexican has not been included in Slaven Bilic’s squad for the fixture.
Fellow summer arrivals Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta and Marko Arnautovic, meanwhile, have been left on the bench as head coach Slaven Bilic opted for a youthful starting XI.
There were some West Ham supporters that were pleased to see the likes of Toni Martinez and Josh Cullen given chances to cement a first-team role ahead of the new campaign.
However, the majority were disappointed that none of the club’s four summer signings were handed a spot in the team for the pre-season fixture.
Hart, Zabaleta and Arnautovic are all expected to feature in the second period, but West Ham fans will have to wait for Hernandez to pull on the club’s famous shirt.
