West Ham United had watched scorelines go their way in the relegation fight before their trip to Chelsea which only added to the growing sense that they would be okay this season.

Southampton and Stoke both lost out to North London sides and they travelled to Stamford Bridge with the capacity to approach the game as something of a free hit.

If getting anything out of the trip to face London rivals Chelsea was a bonus then a point, garnered after enduring a lot of home pressure after a promising opening, was a welcome one in their battle against the drop.

Joe Hart's inclusion did not necessarily please West Ham fans prior to kick off but the England international kept his side in the game at times and was the unexpected subject of praise from his own fans.

Substitute Javier Hernandez grabbed an equaliser late on but it was the England man who got his fair share of plaudits after arguably his best performance of the season...
