West Ham supporters hail club’s former striker

Carlton Cole is currently a free agent, with the 34-year-old leaving Indonesian club Persib earlier this year.

The striker was on trial at Southend United during the summer, but decided against signed a contract with the Shrimpers, and has since been linked with Crystal Palace.

It is understood that Cole is not ready to retire from professional football, and it does appear that we will see the forward back in the game sooner rather than later.

Cole actually turned 34 on Thursday, and former club West Ham United were quick to pay tribute to the striker on their official Twitter page.

The former Chelsea youngster scored 47 league goals in 207 appearances for the Hammers between 2006 and 2013, before adding another eight between 2013 and 2015 after returning to the club following his release.

Cole has not had the best career when it comes to goals, but it would be fair to say that he was a popular figure with the West Ham supporters.

Indeed, when the Hammers wished Cole a happy birthday on Thursday, a number of the London club’s fans were on hand to hail the former seven-time England international.
