West Ham United fans divided on Yaya Toure link

According to reports in The Telegraph, West Ham United are looking to make a statement by targeting a move for Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure this summer.

Despite a disappointing campaign in their first season at the London Stadium, the Irons owners are ready to back manager Slaven Bilic and aim to strengthen the squad with some quality players.

One of their targets is understood to be the 33-year-old Ivory Coast international, whose contract with the Citizens runs out at the end of the campaign.

Initially frozen out by Pep Guardiola on his arrival at the Etihad, Toure bounced back by scoring two goals on his return against Crystal Palace in November, and he has made a further 20 top flight appearances since then.

West Ham supporters were quick to have their say on the story linking them to the Premier League star via social media, and they were divided with their opinions.

While some believe that he would be a good addition, others feel that he is lazy and that they would rather have a player for the future.

Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
