West Ham United fans cannot seem to catch a break at the moment.

Their difficult season continues with the news that Michail Antonio will not return before the end of the campaign.

The versatile player has not featured for the Hammers since April 8 when the team earned a 1-0 win over Swansea City at the London Stadium.

During the game, the 27-year-old suffered a hamstring injury and it appears that the problem is worse than first feared.

Manager Slaven Bilic confirmed in a press conference on Thursday morning that Antonio will play no part in the final six games of the Premier League season.

Antonio has been one of the Hammers' better players this season, showing his strength in a variety of positions, including in defence, midfield and up front.

In 29 top-flight appearances, the Englishman scored nine goals and produced three assists, but his teammates will have to continue the campaign without him.

As it stands, Bilic's side are 14th in the table, eight points above the relegation zone.

They have only won 10 of their 32 matches and are 18 points adrift of seventh place - where they finished last season before moving into the new London Stadium.

After Bilic announced the injury blow, fans expressed their discontent on Twitter.
