On Thursday, Indonesian side Persib Bandung announced that they had signed former West Ham striker Carlton Cole on a one-year deal.

The 33-year-old will link up with former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien having chosen to make the move abroad rather than linking up with the likes of Paul Konchesky and Jamie O’Hara at Billericay Town.

Cole’s previous club was Sacramento Republic in America, but having only joined them in August 2016, he decided to move back to the UK after just four matches across the pond.

The striker scored 41 Premier League goals in 216 top flight appearances for the Irons from 2006 to 2015, and he is still held in high regard by supporters.

Some of those were quick to have their say on the surprise transfer via social media, with many not believing that he had chosen that particular deal.
