West Ham United midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate took to Twitter after undergoing wrist surgery, and fans have been quick to wish him a speedy recovery.
The 27-year-old was booked in for the operation after the club cemented their Premier League status for next season with a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur last Friday.
Kouyate has been struggling with the injury all season, but he has managed to compete in 36 games in all competitions.
Such was the 27-year-old’s importance to manager Slaven Bilic, he was forced to play through the pain but now that the Hammers are safe, he has gone under the knife to rectify the problem.
This means, though, that Kouyate will not be available for the final two games of the season – at home to Liverpool and away to Burnley.
He tweeted an update on his situation, conveying a positive message as he begins the early stages of recovery.

Even though Kouyate will be absent from the final two fixtures of the campaign, supporters seem more concerned about the Senegal international making a full recovery in time for next season.
