The majority of West Ham United fans have been frustrated with where summer signing Javier Hernandez has been positioned on the pitch.

The former Manchester United attacker was the big name in the Hammers' transfer activity, and he has managed two goals in five Premier League appearances.

However, rather than be used as the focal point of attack, Hernandez is regularly played wide by manager Slaven Bilic.

Plenty of fans feel that he is not getting the best out of the Mexico international by playing him out of position.

It seems, though, that the coach is standing by his decisions, telling reporters ahead of Saturday's clash against Tottenham Hotspur that Hernandez has to sacrifice himself for the team.

ClaretandHugh quotes Bilic as saying:

“I spoke with him and also when you watch him play he is still close to goal. He is a great player and I explained it to him that sometimes you have to sacrifice yourself for the team.”

In the last two league matches, Andy Carroll, who has been riddled with injury problems over the last few seasons, has been leading the line.

Bilic's latest remarks about Hernandez's position has not gone down well with the fans.
