Wright ‘embarrassed’ for Arsenal fans following defeat to Liverpool

Liverpool managed to claim an emphatic 4-0 win at Anfield on Sunday, but most of the post-match talk surrounded their opponents Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger’s men were roundly criticised for their performance, particularly in midfield where Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey were stationed.

The North London outfit are traditionally known for their attacking flair, but they failed to register a single shot on target.

Wright, who played for Arsenal between 1991 and 1998, has not held back in the past when criticising his former club.

On Sunday, the 53-year-old seemed more upset than angry as he reacted to the result on Twitter using emojis and feeling sorry for the supporters who travelled up to Merseyside.

It has not been an ideal start to the season for Wenger and his men, as they were tested by Leicester on the opening day of the Premier League season, but managed to sneak a 4-3 triumph.

Next up was a trip to face Stoke City, who sealed all three points with one goal from new boy Jese Rodriguez.

After the result at Anfield, Arsenal head into the international break with just three points from a possible nine, which leaves them two places above the relegation zone.
