Southampton fans satisfied with early fixtures for the 2018-19 season

Southampton had a torrid 2017-18 campaign as they had a brush with relegation and a managerial change.

Under Mauricio Pellegrino the club looked destined for the Championship, but Mark Hughes managed to save the club’s skin by scraping to survival following his appointment in March.

The former Stoke City boss was given a permanent deal at the end of the season, so he will get an opportunity to put his stamp on the team this season.

On Thursday morning, the Premier League announced the fixtures for the new campaign, and it has been a kind start for the Saints.

The club will begin their season with a home match against Burnley at St Mary’s on August 11, and they will go on to face Everton, Leicester City, Crystal Palace and Brighton in their first five clashes.

The festive schedule looks tougher for Southampton as they will take on Huddersfield Town, West Ham United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Leicester over the hectic period.

The coastal club will close the season at home against Huddersfield.

Overall, the fans are content with the schedule, but some are slightly concerned about the December/January run.
