Southampton are rising up the Premier League table after starting their 2020/21 season in impressive fashion. Ralph Hasenhuttl has already spearheaded his side to a win over current league leaders Everton and are on track for a strong finish this campaign.

The Saints finished just outside the top ten last time out, so improving on this will be their top priority. If they can continue their positive form, Hasenhuttl may move the target to push for an even better finish.

With Danny Ings proving to be one of Southampton's best transfers in recent years, the south coast outfit boast an extremely dangerous attack. But the Austrian isn't just limiting his plans to the here and now. It seems he is already one step ahead as he looks to re-establish Southampton as a Premier League threat.

A bright future for N'Lundulu

After bringing youngster Dan N'Lundulu onto the pitch against the Toffees, Hasenhuttl praised his efforts in his post-match interview.

"He’s calm on the ball and still attacking hard," he told the Daily Echo. "I liked him. It was good for him to get this message – we want to force these young players and he’s one of them.

"He’s a type of striker we don’t have in our side so far. He gives us physical options, can keep the ball very well."

The 21-year-old's tall, strong stature could be beneficial to the Saints, who have the smaller and speedier Che Adams to accompany Ings in attack. Having a player similar to club icon Rickie Lambert could give Southampton a new and exciting dynamic that will leave defences second guessing every move.

N'Lundulu has three goal contributions in four reserve league appearances this season and made a brief cameo debut to kickstart his senior career on Sunday (via Transfermarkt). Lambert tallied a total of 115 goals and 64 assists in 230 games for the Saints, with his best season coming from his 2009/10 campaign. The England international bagged an astonishing 31 goals in 46 appearances – the boss will be hoping he can create another player like Lambert in N'Lundulu.

With impressive goalscoring stats to boot, the youngster could make regular appearances off the bench under Hasenhuttl and establish himself as a key player over the next couple of seasons.
