Southampton take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League at St Mary's on Tuesday evening and with the Saints now mathematically safe from relegation, Ralph Hasenhuttl can surely begin to plan for next season with his team selections.

The Saints have endured a nightmare 2021 thus far which has seen them slip from potential European challengers to the bottom five in the Premier League and unless Hasenhuttl adds to his squad in the summer, a relegation fight is looking very likely next season.

The Austrian should perhaps look towards some of the youngsters in Southampton's academy for the final four games of the Premier League season, whilst also disregarding those unlikely to be with the Saints next season, including the likes of Ryan Bertrand and Takumi Minamino.

Here's how Football FanCast predicts Hasenhuttl will line his side up against Crystal Palace, with four changes from the team that started in the 2-0 defeat against Liverpool at the weekend...

There are two changes in defence, as Mohammed Salisu returns at centre-back after his superb display against Leicester City recently, with Jan Bednarek dropped after a poor run of form.

Kayne Ramsay makes a rare Premier League appearance at left-back, with Bertrand still sidelined, the youngster deserves a chance to show what he can do, albeit in an unnatural position.

There's another opportunity for a youngster in midfield, with Alexandre Jankewitz partnering James Ward-Prowse in the middle, which allows Stuart Armstrong to move out to the right-hand side in place of Theo Walcott, with Nathan Redmond keeping his place on the left.

Finally, Michael Obafemi earns a start after a bright cameo at Anfield, and he partners Che Adams up front, with Danny Ings also unlikely to feature from the start as he recovers from injury.
