Capital One Cup round 2 draw

2013-2014 Capital One CupThe Second Round draw for this year’s Capital One Cup has been revealed and this tournament which is famous for its giantkillings has thrown up a few banana skins already.

Last season Swansea eliminated the defending champions Liverpool in the fourth round and went on all the way to the final where they ended Bradford City’s Cinderella story. A year ago Cardiff almost shocked the Reds but it was Steven Gerrard who earned the bragging rights against his cousin Anthony.

Carlisle United, Notts County and Leeds United are the latest teams to progress to this year’s Second Round. The Cumbrians gave us the latest upset as they eliminated Championship side Blackburn Rovers in an exciting penalty shoot out after a 3-3 draw at Brunton Park.

Liverpool hold the record of most titles in the competition as they have eight cups in their collection. This year will also feature Jose Mourinho’s return in the competition with Chelsea as well as Sir Alex Ferguson’s first absence since 1986.

But which team will be the one that raises the cup this year? It is very early to predict but the club that triumphs will be guaranteed a place at next year’s UEFA Europa League.
