Dean Windass has exclusively told Football FanCast that he believes Nuno Espirito Santo will deploy a three at the back at Tottenham this season.

The Portuguese became renowned for playing 3-5-2 at Wolves, with fast, attacking full-backs helping the Molineux outfit record consecutive seventh-place finishes in the Premier League.

However, whilst pre-season is a completely different kettle of fish to competitive action, Santo is yet to start with a back-three in pre-season, opting for a slightly more attacking 4-3-3 out of possession, with Dele Alli moving into a more advanced central role without the ball.

But Santo currently has five central defenders at his disposal, whilst Ben Davies can slot into a left centre-back role like he did for Wales at Euro 2020.

Summer signing Cristian Romero is unlikely to be fit enough to make his Tottenham debut against Manchester City on Saturday, but Windass told FFC that he reckons Santo will start with a back-three:

"That's the way he'll go. I think he'll go three at the back, that's his preferred system.
