Exclusive: Dean Windass opens up on Mourinho and Alli’s relationship

In an exclusive interview with Football FanCast, Dean Windass has admitted that Dele Alli’s Tottenham career is over – with his relationship with Jose Mourinho beyond repair.

The ex-MK Dons attacking midfielder made his first Premier League start since the opening day against Fulham on Thursday, although he’s been left out of a number of matchday squads this season and was an unused substitute against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

Alli was the subject of strong interest from Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG in January, although the French outfit were unable to secure a deal for the England man, which meant he remained at Tottenham.

Since the January window closed and Alli returned from a tendon injury, he’s been involved in each of Spurs’ seven games in all competitions and produced an impressive display in the Europa League before assisting the winning goal at Craven Cottage.

But when asked whether he thinks that Alli and Mourinho’s relationship is irreparable, Windass told FFC:

“Yeah, I think so. I’ve been in them environments, and it’s one of those situations where you move on all good things come to an end. He’s done incredibly well since he came in from MK Dons. Will he go to PSG or will an English club come in for him.

“He won’t be short of takers because he’s a talented boy, but it just hasn’t worked under Jose.”

Since coming back into the team last month, Alli has already shown Mourinho what he’s been missing this campaign, but Windass might well have hit the nail on the head here.

It would appear that the Spurs boss is putting their differences aside in order to focus on the job in hand, but it wouldn’t be a major surprise to see the England man moved on this summer.
