Dean Windass has exclusively told Football FanCast that despite Diego Costa being available on a free transfer, he’s unlikely to be considered by Tottenham this summer.
Regardless of whether Harry Kane gets his move to Manchester City, Nuno Espirito Santo desperately needs to sign another striker following Carlos Vinicius’ return to Benfica.
The likes of Southampton’s Danny Ings have been thrown around, whilst the name of Raul Jimenez can be expected to be mentioned in the coming weeks after Santo’s recent appointment at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, Costa is available for nothing having seen his contract at Atletico Madrid terminated back in December.
The 32-year-old has an impressive record in the Premier League having scored 52 goals in 89 appearances, which helped Chelsea win two titles in three seasons.
But Windass told Football FanCast that he reckons Spurs could do far better than the Spanish international, who’s scored just 19 times in the previous four years:
“I’m not so sure, I’d love to see him. I love watching him play. His aggression, he loves playing on the edge.
“You don’t know what you’re going to get from him – he looks the angriest man in the world. I don’t think you would want to mark him week in, week out.
“I know he’s only 32, but there’s better strikers out there. It’s interesting because he’s on a free transfer, but I can’t see them coming for Diego Costa.”
