Dean Windass reckons that Nuno Espirito Santo will be delighted that Dele Alli is still a Tottenham player.

The 25-year-old is about to start his seventh season with the club, which comes after he almost left last January following his fallout with Jose Mourinho which overshadowed his entire 2020-2021 campaign.

Alli made just two Premier League starts under Mourinho last term and was made to watch from the bench and even the stands for long periods.

He did enjoy an upturn in fortunes when Ryan Mason was interim manager, but he ended up playing less than 700 minutes in the league in forgetful season.

However, Alli has managed to outlast the Portuguese and has since posted several photos and videos on his Instagram account of his off season training ahead of the new campaign.

And with Alli looking fitter and stronger, and already off the mark in pre-season, it already has the makings of a huge year for the attacker, especially with the World Cup less than 18 months away.

With that in mind, Windass exclusively told Football FanCast that the Spurs boss will be thrilled to still have him on board:

"I think Nuno will be absolutely delighted that he's stayed.

"When the new manager comes in and you get that cuddle, and you get that hand on the shoulder, and Nuno will have understood what went on with Mourinho."
