Tottenham Hotspur will return to action today as the Premier League resumes following a six-week pause.

Antonio Conte will lead his side to face Brentford in an all-London clash in what looks like it will be a tricky fixture to navigate.

Having suffered a tumultuous run of results before the World Cup-enforced break, the Italian will be hoping to welcome back a fresh squad ready to push on and secure Champions League qualification.

In their final game before the players jetted off to Qatar, the Lilywhites survived a scare as they slipped past Leeds United in a nervy 4-3 win. On that day, they were without Heung-min Son, who remained touch-and-go for the World Cup after suffering a fractured eye socket.

Rested for two games with a view to his subsequent duties with South Korea, his nation emerged as unlikely qualifiers from their group before being knocked out by Brazil in the round of 16.

Unfortunately for the 30-year-old, he carried his poor domestic goalscoring form onto the international stage, being handed a lowly 6.67 average rating by Sofascore across his country's four games in Qatar.

Despite only scoring three times in the Premier League this season, though (all of which came against Leicester), Son still holds a 7.23 rating from Sofascore and continues to pose a goal threat.

With the 30-year-old having returned to London well-rested despite his disappointing start to the season, Conte must restore him to the starting line-up today for their trip to face the Bees.

Whether or not Son is on form, he remains the “world-class” operator that Jose Mourinho previously dubbed him.

It was only last season that the Korean had scored 23 times and provided a further nine assists in one league campaign.

Peter Crouch even claimed about the £190k-per-week Spurs marksman: “I think he needs to have more respect on his name. He is one goal behind Teddy Sheringham – who was a legend for Tottenham. Son too will become a legend I think, if he is not already."

He could make Tottenham fans forget all about the injury woes suffered by Dejan Kulusevski over the autumn if he can recapture his form of last season. Starting that resurgence today would be a huge step in the right direction from Son.
