According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are confident of agreeing a new contract with versatile defender Japhet Tanganga.

The 20-year-old has made 10 appearances for Jose Mourinho's side this season and has started six of their last eight games in the Premier League.

As it stands, the Englishman will be out of contract at the end of June, but according to Football Insider, Spurs are confident of agreeing a deal.

The report claims that the defender had actually turned down the club's initial offer but talks have since been 'advanced'.

Some of the Tottenham fans have reacted positively to the update.

Others, though, are less convinced when it comes to the defender.

Indeed, one individual showed little enthusiasm reacting to the news, claiming that Tanganga is "alright" but won't solve the club's problems.

The England Under-20 international has developed into a key player for Mourinho in recent weeks, although it remains to be seen what type of defensive business the London club attempt to complete in this summer's transfer window.
