Predicted Spurs XI, latest team and injury news vs Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action later this afternoon as they make the short trip across London to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Antonio Conte’s side got the 2022/23 campaign off to a perfect start last weekend as they thrashed Southampton 4-1 and now they head to his former club looking to continue such fine form.

Spurs fans, prediction for today's game?

Chelsea win!

Spurs win!

Spurs win!

Spurs weren’t able to beat or even score against the Blues last season, so that’s something that the Italian will be looking to change this time around.

But will he stick or twist with a winning lineup? Here’s the starting XI we’re predicting for today’s encounter…

In what would be a surprise decision, Conte could make as many as two changes from the side that walloped the Saints a week ago.

Between the sticks, club captain Hugo Lloris is set to remain, as will the back three of Ben Davies, Eric Dier and Cristian Romero but at wing-back, there could be one alteration.

Given the quality of opposition and the Lilywhites’ recent past with Chelsea, Conte could turn to Ivan Perisic, 33, to make his full debut for the club. His experience and know-how could be imperative to see Spurs over the line today, particularly when compared to Ryan Sessegnon, 22.

The England U21 international looks like a new player under the Italian and despite finding the net against Southampton, he could be dropped for the Croatian veteran. Meanwhile, Emerson Royal – another star who looks completely different to last season – should keep his place on the right.

How well do you know Spurs manager Antonio Conte? Question 1. During his playing days, in which position did Conte typically operate?

In midfield, Rodrigo Bentancur is likely to keep his spot too but we could see Yves Bissouma come in for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, just to offer a bit more going forward. A risky but perhaps worthwhile call.

Further up the pitch, the front three of Heung-min Son, Dejan Kulusveski and Harry Kane should remain, though Conte does now have £60m summer signing Richarlison available for selection following his suspension.

Predicted Spurs XI (3-4-3) vs Chelsea: Lloris; Davies, Dier, Romero; Perisic, Bissouma, Bentancur, Emerson; Son, Kulusevski, Kane

AND in other news, Paratici submits Spurs enquiry for £158k-p/w “magician”, he could be Kulusevski 2.0
