Seven years after leaving Tottenham for a world record fee, Gareth Bale looks set to return to the north London club.

The Welshman has flown in from Madrid, and with everything seemingly agreed and ironed out, he will join Spurs on a season-long loan.

The prospect of having a two-time PFA Player of the Year winner in your side is always exciting, and it’s hard to imagine that any football fan isn’t excited to see what Bale can bring upon his return.

However, his impact at Spurs may go beyond what he does on the pitch, and one would hope that he’ll have a lasting impression on some of his teammates, especially Ryan Sessegnon.

The former Fulham man has been compared to Bale since he burst onto the scene at Craven Cottage as a teenager, and with his transformation from being a left-back to a winger, you can understand why the parallels have been drawn.

Unfortunately, Sessegnon’s career seems to have faltered since leaving Fulham, he’s played just a handful of games since his move across London, failing to score a single league goal for his new club.

Bale knows better than anyone how to get over a poor start for a club, he failed to win in any of his first 24 appearances for the club, being labelled as a jinx and constantly being slammed in the press.

However, the Welshman’s talents eventually became evident and here we are over a decade later and he has four Champions League winner’s medals to boast.

Sessegnon needs to find that surge of confidence that Bale found in the early 2010s to really cement himself as a star player for Jose Mourinho’s side, and perhaps the best way he can do that is to seek guidance from his new teammate and use the experience he has to push on with his help.

Sessegnon has long been heralded as the next Bale, and perhaps with a little guidance from the man he’s trying to emulate, he can finally live up to that moniker.
