Toby Alderweireld has issued a message to Tottenham Hotspur fans after the Premier League season was suspended. The season has been placed on hold until April 3rd, at the earliest.

Of course, there is the prospect of further suspensions, but the season is currently due to resume in three weeks.

It means that Spurs will not be playing Manchester United this weekend or West Ham United next week, with their next game set to come against Sheffield United on April 4th.

Money talks: How much did Levy pay for each of these Spurs stars?

And Alderweireld, rated at £27m by Transfermarkt, has taken to Twitter to comment on the major decision, sending his best wishes to anyone who may have been affected by the global pandemic.

The Belgium international has been a key member of the Spurs squad thus far this season.

He has made 36 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal, with Spurs currently eighth in the Premier League table.

They will be aiming to cut the gap to Chelsea when the league resumes; they are eight points behind at the time of suspension.
