Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has delivered an injury update ahead of his side's Premier League clash against Manchester United this evening.

What's the story?

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Italian confirmed that Ryan Sessegnon will be missing for the north London side against United, with the 21-year-old set to be ruled out for a month.

Conte said: "Ryan had a scan, and he has a muscular problem. I think he will need one month to recover. For sure, it’s a pity because at the moment Ryan is giving continuity in his performances and this injury is no good for him, no good for the team.

"We have to stay close to him and to support him to recover very soon. I was a player and I know that when you are injured, it’s a tough time for you because you are not able to do your work, and for this reason you are frustrated."

Big miss for Spurs

The England youth international had just been beginning to find his feet at Spurs in recent weeks, starting the past four Premier League games for the club and seeing them pick up three wins in the process.

Writing in his post-match player ratings for the game against Everton last time out, football.london's Alasdair Gold gave Sessegnon a seven, saying: "Fired in a dangerous low ball that Keane could only power into his own net under pressure from Kane. Showed some good attacking movement, as well as a couple of sloppy moments at the back. However, he picked up an injury right at the end of the half and was replaced by Reguilon."

Sessegnon's incredible turn of pace was the real difference-maker in that crucial opening goal against the Toffees, completely leaving veteran full-back Seamus Coleman for dust before delivering a dangerous cross into the box.

It was clear that, in recent weeks, the young defender had picked up some much-needed rhythm and confidence, and being given the trust of a manager like Conte in playing week in, week out seemed to bring the best out of him.

It's exactly why the Spurs boss, as well as Sessegnon himself, will be devastated that the 21-year-old has been ruled out for the foreseeable future, just when he had found some impressive form.
