Tottenham Hotspur are back in Premier League action this lunchtime as they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to north London.

Antonio Conte's side head into the encounter with one win and one draw from their opening two matches and with the Champions League on the horizon, there's a good feel around the Spurs camp right now.

Off the pitch, the Lilywhites have been very active in the transfer market, signing no fewer than seven fresh faces, though none have started either of their first two games - but that should change this afternoon.

In line for his first start at his new club is Ivan Perisic, who came on to provide a lovely assist against Chelsea last weekend.

His lofted ball in from a corner was inch-perfect for Harry Kane to head home a 96th-minute equaliser and it's that level of composure and quality on set-pieces that Spurs need against Wolves.

Ryan Sessegnon is currently playing ahead of him but he endured quite a tough afternoon against the Blues before he was hooked on the hour mark. As per SofaScore, he was Conte's worst performer by quite some margin, having made only six accurate passes and lost 82% of his duels.

Perisic, who actually replaced Heung-min Son with less than 15 minutes on the clock, outperformed him, not only providing an all-important assist but also made 75% of his passing attempts and two of these were key chances created.

The Croatian veteran, 33, must therefore be the man to start as he has the skillset to punish Bruno Lage's backline.

Over the last year, he has managed 3.48 shot-creating actions per 90 and 0.98 crosses into the penalty area per 90, which sees him rank within the top 4% of his positional peers across Europe, via FBref.

That's why the likes of Kane, Son and Dejan Kulusevski can feast off his creativity and considering he's earning a whopping £178k-per-week, you cannot afford to have a player of that calibre on the bench every week.

Despite being the wrong side of 30, Perisic still has the work rate and fitness to contend at such an elite level, as explained by his former manager Luciano Spalletti.

"he’s the most incredible professional. He’s one of those that even after training is over, he works out on his own for about an hour, hour and fifteen minutes. I’ll repeat, an incredible professional both physically and mentally. His physique is that of a horse. He makes these 60-70 meter runs and you feel the ground shake when he passes you," the Italian once claimed.

As such, it's time for Conte to unleash the 33-year-old monster into his starting XI as he could cause serious havoc against Wolves this afternoon.
