According to Bild, Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho is targeting Youcef Atal this summer.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding football at the moment and when the league season will restart, it appears Premier League sides are already drawing up plans for the upcoming transfer window.
And according to German publication Bild, Spurs have got a wish-list of players who they are targeting, and Nice right-back Atal is one of the names on it.
The report adds that the likes of Marcel Sabitzer, Jamal Lewis, Eder Militao and Geoffrey Kondogbia also feature on the short-list of summer targets.
Since Serge Aurier made the switch to the Premier League to join Tottenham, his career in north London has just been characterised by high-profile mistakes and howlers.
His constant giving away of penalties means that even whilst he may enjoy a run of games where he does the good offensively, you just cannot rely on him to keep his head in a defensive sense.
That inconsistency will no doubt leave Jose Mourinho tearing his hair out, whose career has been characterised by teams like Inter and Chelsea who have been dominant defensively.

Whilst Youcef Atal can certainly provide an attacking punch, he once scored a hat-trick for Nice against Guingamp, he is also solid going back towards his own goal. As per Whoscored, he is averaging an impressive 1.8 tackles and 1.8 interceptions per game in Ligue 1 this season, and that consistency is exactly what Spurs could do with. It’s no surprise that his teammate at Algeria, Riyad Mahrez, said the 23-year-old has a “huge future” in football.
Someone like Aurier will always give opposition teams a chance that he could do something reckless in a game. The £22.5m-rated Atal just represents a far safer option.
