According to Football Insider, Jose Mourinho "has told friends Tottenham don’t expect Danny Rose to play for them again".

What's the word?

The England international currently finds himself on loan at fellow Premier League side Newcastle, after joining the Magpies in the January transfer window.

Now, Football Insider claim that Spurs' intention is for Rose to "find a new club in the summer as they prepare to sell him with a year left on his contract".

The report further claims the Lilywhites believe the left-back's best years are now behind him, and that he is "not capable of regaining the levels of his peak".

Inevitable

After Rose publicly admitted that he felt he didn't get a fair chance at Spurs, and then Mourinho's retort that he did, it all felt rather inevitable that the end would be near for the defender.

Amidst all the talk surrounding the north London side's boss treatment of Tanguy Ndombele, his apparent ruthlessness over Rose is exactly what's needed. Getting rid of a player who openly questioned his managerial authority, and is reportedly past his peak, is the kind of tough decision-making that Mourinho is showing here.

Whether he's right to be so hard on Ndombele is another matter, considering the Frenchman is young and only joined the club last summer. But for someone as established and experienced as Rose, Mourinho's stance is absolutely the right way to go about things. It reasserts him as the man at the top of the tree who won't take players defying orders.

Meanwhile, Spurs must beat Arsenal to this Serie A ace.
