Amidst the huge spotlight that is on him, it is quite easy to forget that Dele Alli is still only 23-year-old.

The England international has been at the forefront of Tottenham's first-team for a number of seasons now, scoring 62 goals in just 218 games for the Lilywhites.

But amidst his struggles this season - he was on a drought of just one goal in his previous nine Premier League games before Saturday - the criticism has been far more forthcoming for Alli. In fact, just after Spurs' exit in the FA Cup fifth round to Norwich last week, fans of the north London side were quick to get on his back.

However, despite only seeing his team earn a draw at Burnley at the weekend, Alli reached the kind of personal milestone that should put things into perspective for those who question what he has done. By converting the penalty that ensured the scores were locked level at 1-1, the 23-year-old reached the impressive tally of 50 Premier League goals.

And what makes his feat even more remarkable, is the kind of company he is keeping by doing so. In netting 50 in 153 games, he has reached the mark two games faster than current Real Madrid star Eden Hazard, and more than 100 quicker than England icons Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.

Whilst Alli can no doubt a whole load of credit for it, the achievement is just another reminder of Mauricio Pochettino's brilliance. The former Spurs boss helped turn the 23-year-old into a bona-fide goal-scoring midfielder, and someone who can you rely on to consistently deliver double figures every season - only one campaign has seen him net below that mark for the Lilywhites, and even then he scored seven.

It was no surprise that in the immediate aftermath of Pochettino's sacking, Alli took to social media to reveal that the Argentine had taught him so much, and that he couldn't thank him enough.

The £72m-rated ace wasn't the most prolific of goal-scorers from central midfield in his time with MK Dons, scoring just 24 times in 88 games. But Pochettino helped him to become the more dangerous threat that he is, and it is completely to Jose Mourinho's advantage now.

Meanwhile, this Spurs ace who lost possession 26 times had a nightmare display against Burnley.
