Tottenham Hotspur responded to Jose Mourinho's fury by getting back to winning ways in the Europa League this evening.

The north London outfit romped to victory in the second trip to Bulgaria this season, defeating Ludogorets 3-1 to bolster their chances of qualifying from Group J tenfold.

There were plenty of positives - Harry Kane continued his red-hot form with a goal and assist, Giovani Lo Celso bagged his fifth for the club and there were encouraging runouts for both Lucas Moura and Gareth Bale.

However, one member of the Spurs squad has just given the Special One a headache at the worst possible time.

Mourinho was forced into a handful of changes prior to the match, one of which was at left-back as Sergio Reguilon was ruled out through illness and as we noted here, it was always going to be a killer blow.

Ben Davies, the natural replacement, failed to impress and was quite lightweight indeed.

The €20m-rated (£18m) defender won just four of 12 duels (28.5%), was dribbled past on three occasions, made just two accurate crosses from six attempts and lost possession 12 times.

To make matters worse, Davies also committed two fouls and failed to register a successful dribble on that left flank, via SofaScore.

Dan Kilpatrick at the Evening Standard graded his performance a 5/10 and said "Sloppy. Dived in for the Ludogorets goal and was wasteful in the final third."

The Welsh international was the one negative from Spurs' impressive display in Europe. They can count their lucky stars that they weren't coming up against a better side, one that would have undoubtedly capitalised on Davies' off night.

It's now given Mourinho plenty to think about going into Sunday's game against West Brom. If Reguilon is still unwell, then might he throw the gauntlet to the returning Japhet Tanganga - who played left-back three times last season - or even Dennis Cirkin?

He might be wise to after that below-par showing.
