Spurs bounced back from midweek disappointment with a victory against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday night.

Jose Mourinho's men moved up into second place in the Premier League with the 2-1 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and much of the plaudits will fall Gareth Bale's way after he headed home the winner in the 73rd minute.

Harry Kane had opened the scoring from the penalty spot after VAR ruled that Adam Lallana had fouled him inside the area but impressive Seagulls defender Tariq Lamptey made it all-square ten minutes after the break.

Mourinho threw on the returning superstar and he duly delivered within three minutes, meeting the cross of ex-Madrid teammate Sergio Reguilon.

Although it was the Spaniard who arguably stole the show as Spurs' true match-winner.

The 23-year-old, aside from providing the crucial assist, recorded one tackle, one key pass, one shot, eight accurate long balls and also made 39 passes, per SofaScore.

He also enjoyed 73 touches, which was more than any other home player and only goes to show that he was an influential man on Sunday evening. Even him losing possession 18 times goes to show that.

Everything seemed to go through the €50m-rated (£45m) international, none more so than when Toby Alderweireld picked him out with a sublime switch before he whipped in an inch-perfect ball for Bale on the edge of the six-yard box.

Arguably, no other Spurs player could have done that in that position, so Reguilon deserves so much credit.

It was his second assist in as many Premier League games for the north London outfit. He's only started three of their seven top-flight matches too, so if there's anything to learn from this display, it's that Mourinho needs to start him every week.

Just last month, Alasdair Gold lauded Reguilon as a "phenomenal" player with "incredible confidence" and claimed that "everyone loves him" at the club.

Bale might've been the man to stick the ball in the net, but the fellow arrival from La Liga deserves just as much credit if not more.
