Tottenham Hotspur embarked on an extensive recruitment drive over the summer, having secured eight major deals to help bolster manager Antonio Conte's squad, with the most notable incoming having been that of £60m man, Richarlison.

The architect behind that raft of incomings was sporting director Fabio Paratici, with the Italian having proven himself an astute operate in the transfer market since arriving in north London last summer.

The former Juventus transfer chief notably secured the double capture of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from the Turin outfit in January, with the highly-rated pair going on to take on leading roles for the Lilywhites since then.

It has not all been plain-sailing for the 50-year-old, however, with Paratici having dropped a real howler with regards to the club's failure to sign Argentine gem, Paulo Dybala, with the 28-year-old having since blossomed for his new club, AS Roma.

Having previously been linked with the club back in 2019, reports earlier this summer had suggested that Spurs could once again make a move for the then-free agent, albeit with the player's reported wage demands believed to have seen them end their pursuit.

That decision not to push ahead with a move for the 5 foot 10 sensation - a player well known to Paratici as a result of their time together with the Old Lady - has seemingly backfired, with the 34-cap menace having been in sparkling form of late.

The playmaking forward - who has previously been dubbed a "genius" by Arjun Pradeep - has already registered four goals and two assists in just eight games thus far at the Stadio Olimpico, having lived up to the billing after receiving a hero's welcome upon his arrival in the Italian capital.

Under the care of former Tottenham boss, Jose Mourinho, the £31.5m-rated gem has sparkled in his dynamic, free role off striker Tammy Abraham, notably netting a fine finish off the bench in the recent Europa Conference League victory over HJK Helsinki.

A player of immense talent at the elite level - having scored 115 goals and registered 48 assists in 293 games during his time with the Bianconeri - the £138k-per-week star would no doubt have been a real asset for Conte, helping to bolster the 53-year-old's attacking ranks even further.

The former Chelsea boss is seemingly in need of such a talent amid the ongoing struggles of Heung-min Son, with the Korean international having failed to score and laid on just one assist in all competitions thus far this term.

Considering that Dybala would have been available on a free, it could well represent a real missed opportunity as far as those at N17 are concerned.
