On a night where Tottenham Hotspur were careless in front of goal, one of their contracted players shone on the Champions League stage.

Antonio Conte's side were held to a 0-0 draw by Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday, a result which kept them in second place in group D and whilst some aspects of their performance were encouraging, their play in the final third was dismal.

Although, you'd take a point away from home in Europe most of the time.

Spurs managed only two shots on target throughout the 90 minutes at the Waldstadion, with the whole team only managing to muster up three big chances created.

That's the same number as Tanguy Ndombele registered in just 45 minutes of game time off the bench.

The Frenchman, who was once the Lilywhites' club-record signing at £55m, is currently out on loan to Serie A side Napoli, who trounced Ajax 6-1 earlier this week.

And the 25-year-old showed Tottenham what they were missing with a stunning creative display in front of nearly 53,000 fans at the Johan Cruijff Arena.

As per SofaScore, Ndombele managed one key pass every 15 minutes, meaning he was the playmaking hub for Luciano Spaletti's side throughout the second half and that was backed up by the fact that he made 96% of his passing attempts. He also lost possession just once from 35 touches - far less careless than Spurs were.

The former Lyon dynamo could've also got on the scoresheet as one effort cannoned off the woodwork, whilst on the ball, he was near unstoppable - winning 100% of his duels and managing two successful dribbles.

There was even some defensive work rate from the player, who was once dubbed "very lazy" by Alan Hutton, as he put in two tackles to help his side to a monumental victory in the Netherlands.

Spurs have lacked a creative influence in the attacking third for much of the season, summed up by their interest in players like James Maddison during the summer transfer window, so Ndombele may have just made a fool of Conte, given his decision to let him go despite there being a need for a player like him in the squad.

The £26m-rated flop - once lauded as "unplayable" by ex-teammate Joe Hart - can clearly be an outstanding genius on his day, yet it's Napoli who are witnessing that, not Tottenham.
