As Nuno Santo looks to ring the changes this evening, he will be without two of Tottenham Hotspur's first-team squad due to injury...

What's the latest?

The Portuguese head coach will rotate his side for their UEFA Europa Conference League clash against Vitesse tonight but he will not be able to call upon the services of either Matt Doherty or Ryan Sessegnon.

Speaking about the Lilywhites duo ahead of their trip to the Netherlands, he said to reporters, via the club's official website:

"They are getting better. Unfortunately, they cannot join the group yet, but it’s a matter of time before we have good news.

"Like I’ve said, we’re going to need all the players. Unfortunately, Matt was injured on international duty, Sess, he’s out for a while, it’s going to take longer, but I’m positive that Matt can join us next week."

Frustrating update

With Spurs expected to change much of the starting XI, this encounter would have been a welcome opportunity for both of these players to feature, having struggled for game time this season.

Doherty is a familiar name to Nuno, having named him as his first-choice right wing-back for several seasons up at Molineux, and he would've been in line to start this match as he played the full 90 in the previous two group games.

With Emerson likely to be rested after his late return from international duty and then featuring against Newcastle United, it seems likely that Nuno will turn to Japhet Tanganga.

Perhaps a little annoying given the fact that the academy gem wants to play through the middle, rather than out wide.

Meanwhile, Sessegnon has not featured since the pair of qualifying matches for this very competition back in mid-August. Injuries have curtailed his chances of making much of an impact, so it's frustrating to not be able to get him minutes in a fixture like this.

Games are only going to come thick and fast heading into the festive period, so Nuno may be a little aggrieved to not have a fully-fit squad at his disposal.

AND in other news, Paratici could seal Spurs transfer masterclass with "exceptional" 20 y/o "golden child"...
