Loads of Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting on Twitter after SportBild reported that the club is interested in signing RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer.

The report says are keen on the 26-year-old, but that they could have to pay at least €50m (£46m) if they want to bring him to north London during the summer transfer window.

The Austria international of course shone over two legs against Spurs in the last 16 of the Champions League, scoring twice in the 3-0 second-leg win earlier this month.

It seems as though he caught Jose Mourinho's eye during those two fixtures if Bild are to be believed, and it isn't too surprising given he has scored 15 goals in all competitions for the Bundesliga club this term.

The report does also add that Leipzig believe it is unlikely that Tottenham will meet their asking price for one of their key players, given all of the uncertainty in football at the moment.

Spurs fans have been responding after Marc BA, who describes himself as a Tottenham transfer analyst, posted about the story on Twitter.

One suggested that they swap him for club-record buy Tanguy Ndombele, who has disappointed this season and has come under public criticism from Jose Mourinho, while another admitted that while he "would be a fantastic signing", they doubt that he would want to join them.

If they miss out on Champions League qualification if and when the Premier League season resumes, that would surely be a potential sticking point.

Others simply acknowledged how good he was against Mourinho's men in the Champions League, while two more supporters suggested he isn't what they need.

Given he has primarily played on the right or as a central attacking midfielder in 2019/20, as per Transfermarkt, you do have to wonder if Tottenham already have enough options in those areas with Dele Alli, Erik Lamela and Lucas Moura, to name a few.

It seems as though there should be a bigger focus on their defence and buying a striker if they are going to be spending around a £50m on a new player.

Others are choosing not to believe the link at all, believing it is easy to say Spurs are interested in Sabitzer given he only recently came up against them.
