Tottenham Hotspur youngster Alfie Devine could be one of the players to leave Hotspur Way this month with a potential loan move on the horizon.

What's the latest?

Devine has been a regular feature in the Spurs U21 side this season with 13 appearances to his name across the Premier League 2 and UEFA Youth League (via Transfermarkt).

And he has certainly impressed in those games with three goals to his name in the European tournament after scoring a brace against Eintracht Frankfurt and adding another in their final game against Marseille.

However, reliable Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold has been speaking on his YouTube channel about the youngster's future and expects the midfielder to potentially level on a short-term loan deal this month:

"He is a young player who needs to head out on loan because I don't think he's going to get many sniffs at the first team.

"I know he was going to head out on loan in the summer and then he got that hamstring injury at the Lamex Stadium. I was there when he did it.

Devine

Spurs signed Devine back in the summer of 2020 from Wigan Athletic when the club were cashing in on some of their young talents amid their financial issues.

And he did not have to wait long for his Spurs debut in the first team with Jose Mourinho making the midfielder the youngest-ever Spurs goalscorer after scoring against Marine in the FA Cup at the age of just 16.

Although Devine has been included in a number of matchday squads, he had to wait another two years for his next Spurs outing which came on the weekend against Portsmouth in the FA Cup (via Transfermarkt).

It was expected that Devine would complete a loan move last summer but an injury he picked up in August scuppered those plans which now has him set o leave this month, according to Gold.

And we think this will be the best option for the 18-year-old who will not be learning too much from his time in the Premier League 2 with Tottenham's form so desperately bad.

And it would seem as if his opportunities to break into Antonio Conte's thinking will be extremely limited with the likes of Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr offering the Italian young options to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur.

Wigan's academy manager, Gregor Rioch, previously hailed Devine's mentality as "incredible" following his move to Spurs having worked with him as a young talent at the Latics.

But with the 18-year-old showing such promise, it does seem as if now is the time for him to go out and get some experience in men's football.
