Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier was left furious on Tuesday night with Son Heung-min during his display in the defeat against AC Milan.

What has happened to Son Heung-min at Spurs?

The South Korean winger played 81 minutes of the game at the San Siro after being replaced by new signing Arnaut Danjuma with just minutes remaining.

However, this was just the latest poor performance in what has been a hugely underwhelming campaign from a player who has established such high standards in the Premier League.

The 30-year-old has scored twice in the Champions League this season but has only scored four goals in the Premier League after winning the Golden Boot last term.

And speaking on his YouTube channel, journalist Alasdair Gold has shared a moment where the South Korean lost possession and left Dier absolutely furious in the game in Italy:

"Last night [Tuesday], he was in such a position he lost the ball. It was very quickly played up on a counter-attack. And Eric Dier actually did a good sliding interception to stop the ball, I think he knocked it out for a corner.

"And he was so angry, Dier, he kind of slapped his legs, turned around and really was shouting at Son as if to say, 'come on, you can't do that'."

Should Spurs look to sell Son?

The game on Tuesday night was certainly a damning reflection of the 30-year-old's poor 2022/23 campaign so far with his influence on the game minimal.

Son racked up just 42 touches, zero shots, he lost possession 13 times and only attempted to dribble past a player once in 81 minutes (via SofaScore).

And his displays in the Premier League have not been much better with only two games in the campaign seeing the winger find the back of the net.

However, this is a player who has been consistently excellent for Spurs over the years and, as previously mentioned, he drew level with Mohamed Salah last season to get his hands on the Golden Boot.

Selling Son would feel like a huge risk to take for Spurs ahead of the summer given the consistency he has shown prior to this season.

However, he does only have two years remaining on his contract with the Lilywhites this summer which does potentially raise some questions about his long-term future.

The winger is now nearing the age of 31 which will affect his value but Spurs could look to give him this summer to work on himself and come back stronger next season.

But if he is not to improve next season then it could prove damning for his future in north London ahead of the 2024 summer window where he could only have one year left on his deal.

And depending on who their manager is at the time, the prospect of hanging a 31/23-year-old a new deal may not prove to be the most appealing idea.
