Spurs handed Giovani Lo Celso injury boost ahead of Watford

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a huge injury boost ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash against Watford.

What’s the latest?

In recent comments made to the Tottenham Hotspur website, Antonio Conte revealed that Giovani Lo Celso, who has missed Spurs’ last two fixtures with a calf issue, has now recovered from his knock, and is in contention for a start against the Hornets at Vicarage Road this afternoon.

Speaking about the 25-year-old’s recovery, Conte said: “Giovani Lo Celso has recovered from his injury, and he’s available for the game against Watford. [Cristian] Romero, [Steven] Bergwijn and [Ryan] Sessegnon are still out, but the good news for us is Giovani has recovered.”

Conte will be buzzing

Considering the fact that, since Conte’s arrival in North London back in November, Lo Celso has played just 19 minutes of Premier League football, the news that the central midfielder is in line for a return to action against Watford is sure to have left the Italian coach buzzing.

Indeed, recent reports have suggested that Tottenham could look to use the £19.8m-rated man as a makeweight in a move for Juventus’ Dejan Kulusevski in the January transfer window, something that the Italian side would be much more inclined to do if the Argentina international is fully fit and performing well for Spurs.

However, should Lo Celso go on to shine against Watford on Saturday afternoon, the £70k-per-week midfielder could well prove to Conte that he would be worth keeping in the Spurs squad for at least the remainder of the current campaign.

A truly wasted talent...

Either way, the news that the 25-year-old will be available for selection this weekend is undoubtedly a huge boost for the Italian coach, who will need to rotate his starting XI as much as possible during the busy January schedule in order to keep his players as fit as possible in their hunt for a top-four finish.
