Spurs: Predicted XI, team & injury news vs Nottingham Forest

Tottenham Hotspur head into tonight’s Carabao Cup meeting with Nottingham Forest in something of a mixed run of form, with Antonio Conte’s side having won two, drawn one and lost two of their last five fixtures in all competitions.

However, with Spurs’ most recent outing being a 2-1 loss to Liverpool, the Italian manager will undoubtedly be hoping his side can bounce back with a positive result and performance at The City Ground this evening.

Having said that, with a tricky Premier League meeting against an in-form Leeds United side coming up this weekend, as well as having to deal with a number of fitness concerns, Conte could look to field a somewhat rotated side against Forest.

So, how many changes will the 53-year-old make to the side that lined up in the defeat to Liverpool last weekend?

Here’s how we at Football FanCast think the Tottenham team could look, as well as the latest team and injury news…

With Cristian Stellini hinting in his pre-match press conference that Richarlison could be set to make a return from injury this evening, as well as suggesting that Dejan Kulusevski may be left tonight in order to help aid his own recovery from injury, we predict that Conte will make seven changes to the side that started against Liverpool last time out.

Four of these alterations come in the back four, with Fraser Forster replacing Hugo Lloris between the sticks, while Davinson Sánchez and Japhet Tanganga come in alongside Eric Dier at right and left centre-back respectively.

There are a further two changes at wing-back, with the “swashbuckling” – in the words of Ian Wright – Djed Spence being handed his first start for the club, while Matt Doherty comes in for Ryan Sessegnon on the left.

In the middle of the park, Yves Bissouma retains his starting berth, while academy graduate Oliver Skipp partners the Mali international in Conte’s two-man midfield.

At what age did Kane make his debut for Tottenham?

Finally, in attack, Richarlison makes his long-awaited return on the left flank, Harry Kane once again leads the line through the middle and the “unbelievable” – in the words of Jordan Campbell – Bryan Gil starts on the right.
