Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered talks with Juventus over a move for Aaron Ramsey, which could prove to be a disaster move by Fabio Paratici.

What's the word?

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via Daily Mail), the Welsh international is surplus to requirements at Juventus and as such, Spurs could offer him an exit route, with Paratici having signed the midfielder from Arsenal for Juventus back in 2019.

During his time with the Serie A club, the 30-year-old has made 65 appearances in all competitions, contributing just six goals and six assists.

However, in his time at Juventus, he has regularly been sidelined with injury problems that have prevented him from enjoying a consistent run in the side, and after Erik Lamela's exit was confirmed earlier this week, the last thing Spurs need is to add another 'sicknote' player to their squad.

A transfer disaster by Paratici?

As a former Arsenal man, Ramsey would be a less than popular addition amongst Spurs fans too, whilst Nuno Espirito Santo already has a number of younger and arguably more talented options in midfield, with Tanguy Ndombele, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Giovani Lo Celso and Oliver Skipp all likely to be regulars in his side next season.

Therefore, a move for Ramsey would make very little for Spurs this summer - he is currently valued at £12.6m and reportedly earns £187k per week with the Serie A side, so it would not be a cheap deal for Paratici to complete.

Midfield is one of the areas in which Spurs are strongest and any funds that would be spent on Ramsey could definitely be better spent improving Spurs' defence, or finding a back-up/replacement for Harry Kane, as it looks unlikely at this point that Carlos Vinicius will return for a second season.

Although Ramsey was a star for Arsenal in the past, his injury problems, high wages and age mean that Spurs should steer well clear of the Wales international this summer.

Spurs fans will likely be furious if Paratici pushes ahead to complete a deal for the former Arsenal man as it as all the hallmarks of a disastrous type of signing.
