Spurs: Tom Allnutt reveals Dejan Kulusevski update

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a potentially huge boost regarding the fitness of Dejan Kulusevski.

What’s the latest?

In a recent post on Twitter, Tom Allnutt revealed that, prior to Spurs taking to the field in Saturday afternoon’s meeting against AFC Bournemouth, the 22-year-old – who has not featured for the first-team since September due to injury – undertook an “intense fitness session” with Tottenham’s fitness coaches, before adding that the Sweden international “looks alright.”

Regarding the winger, The Times journalist said: “At Bournemouth. Kulusevski doing a pretty intense fitness session here. Has done about 30 lengths of the half-pitch now, with maybe 10 secs rest in between. He looks alright.”

Huge boost

Considering just how important a part of the Spurs side Kulusevski has become since his January switch to north London, the fact that the winger appears to be nearing a return to full fitness will undoubtedly come as a huge boost to Antonio Conte.

Indeed, over his 18 Premier League appearances last season, the £69m-rated talent made an immediate impact in N17, bagging five goals, registering eight assists and creating six big chances for his teammates, in addition to taking 1.4 shots, making 1.4 key passes and completing 1.4 dribbles per game.

These returns saw the 22-year-old average a breathtaking SofaScore match rating of 7.21, not only ranking him as Conte’s fourth-best performer in the division but also as the 25th-best player in the league as a whole last time out.

While the £110k-per-week attacker has seen his game-time limited due to injury this term, the Swede has still managed to impress over his seven league outings, having scored one goal, provided three assists and created two big chances, with these returns seeing the forward average an eye-catching SofaScore match rating of 6.91.

At what age did Kane make his debut for Tottenham?

Furthermore, with Richarlison also being sidelined due to injury at present, and Conte appearing largely reluctant to deploy either Lucas Moura or Bryan Gil in his three-man attack, Kulusevski’s return would allow the 53-year-old to revert back from a 3-5-2 formation to the Italian’s preferred 3-4-3 set-up.

As such, it is evident that the Swede’s return to fitness would come as a huge boost to Conte and his side – especially ahead of a make-or-break Champions League clash against Marseille on Tuesday – with Allnutt’s latest update on the winger appearing to suggest that the 27-cap international could be back in first-team action sooner rather than later.
