Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a double boost ahead of tonight's Champions League meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt.

What's the latest?

That's according to a report by Bulinews.com, who revealed on Tuesday evening that both Luca Pellegrini and Ansgar Knauff - the German side's likely starting wing-backs - are unavailable for the trip to north London, with the former suffering from a shoulder injury and the latter struggling with an issue with his thigh.

In their report, the German publication wrote: "Oliver Glasner will have to do without two players he's utilised as wing-backs this season after Luca Pellegrini and Ansgar Knauff remained in Frankfurt on Wednesday.

"Pellegrini didn't make the trip to London because of a shoulder injury while Knauff has thigh issues. SGE trainer Glasner will thus have to improvise as he seeks to improve upon the goalless draw against Tottenham Hotspur last week and bounce back from a league loss this weekend."

Huge boost for Conte

Considering just how important a part of the Eintracht side both Pellegrini and Knauff have been for Glasner so far this season, the news that both players will be unavailable for tonight's meeting at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will undoubtedly come as a big boost to Conte's chances of picking up an all-important three points from the European clash.

Indeed, over Pellegrini's five Bundesliga appearances so far this term, the £8.1m-rated wing-back has been one of Eintracht's star players, creating one big chance for his teammates, in addition to taking an average of 2.0 shots, making 0.8 key passes, winning one tackle, completing 1.4 dribbles, making 1.4 interceptions and winning 4.2 duels - at a success rate of 51% - per game.

These returns have seen the AS Roma loanee average an extremely impressive SofaScore match rating of 7.02, ranking him as Glasner's second-best performer in the top flight of German football.

Meanwhile, Knauff has proven his talent at wing-back over his three Champions League fixtures in 2022/23, with the £9m-rated Germany U21 starlet taking an average of 2.0 shots, making 0.3 key passes and completing 2.0 dribbles per game, in addition to making an average of 1.7 tackles, 1.7 interceptions and winning 4.0 duels - at a success rate of 50% - per fixture.

These metrics have seen the 20-year-old average an eye-catching SofaScore match rating of 6.73, ranking him as Eintracht's eighth-best performer in Europe's most prestigious club competition.

As such, it is clear to see that the absence of both players will provide Tottenham's chances of victory this evening with a huge boost, with three points undoubtedly being a result that would delight Conte and supporters alike, as a win would move Spurs into a very good position regarding qualification for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
