Former Tottenham Hotspur star Graham Roberts believes that Gareth Bale’s future depends on who the next manager is at the club.

Real Madrid superstar Bale is currently away with Wales at Euro 2020 following a season spent on loan with Spurs.

In total, he made just 10 starts in the Premier League under the management of Jose Mourinho but he still managed to score 11 goals, including a hat-trick against Sheffield United and braces versus Burnley, Crystal Palace and Leicester City.

Reports when Bale was signed on loan suggested that Spurs had the option to extend the deal by another season, should they so wish.

But it remains to be seen if Real will try to keep him, given that Carlo Ancelotti has been appointed as their new manager and has worked with Bale before.

Roberts thinks that the next manager at the club holds the keys to his future, though it is still not clear exactly who will be replacing Mourinho following his sacking in April.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, Roberts said: “I think he said on social media and everywhere that he will let the manager decide. If he wants him, he’s there, he’s prepared to do that, but if he doesn’t want him, the new manager, then Gareth will go back. It all depends on who we get.

“At the moment, we’re not getting anyone, are we? It’s just dragging on and dragging on, so we’ll just have to wait and see what comes about.”
