Graham Roberts insists that Dane Scarlett has to grab every opportunity he’s given at Tottenham Hotspur, because those chances may ultimately be limited.

The youngster has been given minutes at various points throughout the reigns of Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo.

Still just 17, Scarlett has made four senior appearances for the club in total.

He has primarily featured in Europe and played the full 90 minutes in the disappointing 1-0 defeat to Pacos de Ferreira in the first leg of the Europa Conference League play-off.

He was subsequently benched for the second leg, with Harry Kane restored to the starting XI; he scored twice in a 3-0 win.

And Roberts believes that Scarlett needs to ensure he is grasping every opportunity he is given, as he looks to make a real impact in the first team.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, he said: “I keep getting this from fans and mates who are big Tottenham fans, if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.

“If you get put on that pitch, the manager thinks you’re good enough so it doesn’t matter if you’re 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, you give it your all, you play your best, because you might not get another chance.”

Scarlett has been prolific for the youth sides and has scored 23 times in 23 games for the U18s.
